Meet The Natives - #22 Caleb Suderman

February 18, 2010

#22 CALEB SUDERMAN

Defence
Winkler, MB

Caleb Suderman  is a smooth skating, offensively gifted and defensively sound twenty year old defenceman who arrived in Neepawa this season at the trade deadline.

The trade, which sent Neepawa's top scorer and top scoring defenceman to Winkler, has been a milestone in the development of The Natives as one of the MJHL's most respected teams in the second half of the 2009-2010 season.

Suderman, who is a member of one of Winkler's true hockey families, has adjusted perfectly into his role with The Natives and has exceeded expectations in how he would contribute.

Natives' coach Bryant Perrier says that Caleb has been a great asset to the team and well worth the price to get him.

"We heard he was a great person, we knew he was a great player, but you wait and you see if the hype can be true," Perrier said. "It is completely accurate. Caleb is an outstanding person and hockey player."

With the goal to play at the NCAA level for next season, Caleb has been doing his part on the ice and carries an excellent academic background with him.

Coach Perrier believes that Caleb is perfectly suited to play the NCAA skating game.

"There is no question that Caleb is a terrific prospect to play NCAA hockey and beyond."

In the meantime, Caleb and The Natives' defence corps will continue to assert itself as a premiere unit.

A status that Coach Perrier believes was solidified with Suderman's addition at the deadline.

"We had a very good defence group before Caleb got here," offered the coach. "With Caleb, it just gives us so many more options and possibilities."

"We took a strength and we made it even stronger with the addition of Caleb."

The Natives following is certainly appreciative of being able to watch a player like Caleb on a nightly basis.

Equally appreciative is the staff of The Natives.

"We really appreciate Caleb and the impact he is having on our group," Coach Perrier said. "On the ice, he has been great. In terms of credibility as an organization, having a player like Caleb is a once in a lifetime chance."

"We jumped at it."
