#24 BRETT SUDERMAN
Defence
Winkler, MB
When championship teams are talked about, the words 'unselfish', 'character' and 'team player' are staples in the description of those teams.
All of those words are perfect descriptions of Natives' defenceman Brett Suderman.
Acquired in a trade with Winkler in the late fall, Suderman arrived in Neepawa with a good attitude and a willingness to contribute and play a vital role in the Natives' successful second half of the regular season.
Suderman, who is a hard nosed and fearless player with good skill, became a highly dependable and important part of the team's back end - he was also able to play a solid role up front as a forward, when needed.
"Brett is just a great kid," said Coach Perrier. "He is well liked and respected in the dressing room, and he has the trust of our coaching staff."
Heading into his twenty year old season, Suderman will be a big part of The Natives' success next year.
Coach Perrier says the formula is cut and dry for the native of Winkler.
"With a great summer of training, Brett can be a very good defenceman in his twenty year old season."
According to his coach, Suderman made major adjustments to an already solid game in the 2009-2010 season.
"Brett took his practice intensity to another level and really took a keen interest in learning the nuances of the defence position," said his coach. "His ears were open and as he worked harder and harder, his level of accomplishments on the ice grew."
Next season will be a big one for both The Natives and Suderman.
Fans and staff alike can count on the team and #24 being the best they can be on every night.
