SPRING CAMP GETS UNDERWAY FRIDAY APRIL 16

SPRING CAMP GETS UNDERWAY FRIDAY APRIL 16

April 16, 2010

The Neepawa Natives are hosting their Spring Camp 2010 at The Yellowhead Center this weekend.

This spring camp will have a unique feel to it, as Natives' Coach Bryant Perrier has decided to include some of his veteran players and older prospects in a mentorship and leadership role.

Veteran players and top prospects will skate along with the younger prospects and draft eligible players, in an attempt to bring up the tempo and comfort levels of his younger players.

"We have several of our veteran players and older prospects coming into camp to show the younger players the level of play required at the junior A level," commented the coach, who has says his club will emphasize skill, tempo and puck movement throughout the camp.

"We have many different ways we will be evaluating our prospects  this weekend," Perrier said. "We will have 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 segments, practice and skill development sessions, scrimmages and a final intra-squad game on Sunday."

The intra-squad game, according to Perrier, will mix the veteran players with the top prospects, in a game where skills will be the priority.

Camp registration is at 9:00 AM on Friday and camp will run right through until late Sunday afternoon.
