Dauphin Kings Open RBC With 6-5 Win Over Defending National Champions

The Dauphin Kings provided hometown fans with a thrilling 6-5 overtime win over Vernon in the opening game of the RBC National Championships.

It was a 'see saw' affair, which saw Vernon leading 4-2 heading into the third period.

After the Kings made it 5-5, following a wild third, Matthew Backhouse was the hero in the first overtime period.

The Vipers are the defending national champions, and were ranked number one in Canada for most of the season.

The Neepawa Natives would like to congratulate the Kings on their first victory, and wish them all the best in the remainder of the tournament.
