July 23, 2010
The Selkirk Steelers are proud to announce that forward Taylor Dickin has accepted a scholarship to play Division 1 hockey at the University of North Dakota.
The University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Dickin will join the Sioux this fall.
He will be joining former Neepawa Native forward Brent Davidson with The UND squad.
The 21 year old Winnipeg product has played the last three seasons with the Steelers. He capped off his junior career with a tremendous 2009-10 campaign.
Dickin recently returned from the Toronto Maple Leafs prospects camp where he was able to showcase his skills to the Leafs brass.
Neepawa Natives' Coach Bryant Perrier says Dickin is a worthy candidate for the scholarship.
"Tyler Dickin is a very good hockey player, who displays a maturity on the ice that makes him a great candidate for success at the NCAA level," Perrier said.
Perrier was also complimentary of The Selkirk Steelers.
"Tyler Dickin is the product of an excellent developmental process as a player in Selkirk," he said. "Ken Petrash and his staff do an outstanding job of taking players and making them great. We tip our hat to Ken and his staff."
