The Neepawa Natives are currently entering their 20th season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The club has transferred ownership to a community-owned franchise. The newly formed Board of Directors will be comprised of 15 community members from Neepawa and surrounding area. There will also be an annual general meeting open to the public and a chance for new members to join the club, up to 21 in total.
The goal of this newly formed organization is to keep junior hockey in Neepawa and continue the proud tradition of one of the smallest junior hockey franchises in Canada. The Neepawa Natives hockey players are positive role models and are very active within the community. Over the past number of years our players have been involved in a number of community activities such as: weekly public skating, volunteering at local schools, helping at the Terry Fox Run, attended many Neepawa Minor Hockey games to watch the kids play, participating in the Parade of Lights, helped out officiating NMHA games, and help coach various teams within the community
We as a board look forward to an exciting new era in Junior “A “hockey in Neepawa. We have an enthusiastic group of people working on the front lines and a super-supporting cast in the form of our Booster Club!
To truly be a community owned team, it will take a concerted effort from our business people to not only support the team financially, but to be active members as fans, future board members, and our eyes and ears to the general public, as we work towards another successful year in the MJHL.
With your support we can make this happen!
Yours truly,
Dave Clark
