Byron Billett
Assistant Coach
Coaches Perrier and Tibbett will be joined on the bench by Byron Billet. Byron, who is a native of Milden, Sk. is an area school teacher who has been a highly respected scout for the Natives in the past. His presence as an assistant coach is an asset for the team, according to coach Perrier.
"Byron, first of all, is a very good person. Equal to his character is the fact that he is a good hockey guy. He played the game with a high level of integrity and effort and he brings those same attributes to our program."
Byron is a teacher in the Neepawa area and will attend the majority of games and practices, but is also extremely dedicated to his career as an educator.
"When a person of Byron's caliber comes along, you take every opportunity to utilize his talents. He really gets it and he communicates well. He will make a fine head coach someday," says Coach Perrier.
Shane Jury
Assistant Coach
Rarely does a former player have the maturity to be able to distance himself from his former peer group at such a young age as 22. However, Shane Jury has moved from the player ranks into the coaching fraternity without missing a beat. Just two years removed from the captaincy of the team, Shane will now work with the club's defencemen.
A perennial MJHL All Star as a player, Shane brings a great deal of playing experience. As a local resident, he also has a stiong understanding of the area's hockey culture.
Shane lives and works in the community of Neepawa, and is one of the most respected players in recent MJHL history. He hopes to pass along his knowledge, while supporting the team's other coaches.
"When hiring an assistant you look for loyalty, mental toughness and as desire to learn," says Coach Perrier. "I am also excited about learning from a bright young mind like Shane possesses. He knows the league and he knows players."
