Cam Dickie - Director Player Development And Recruiting
Coach Perrier has been fortunate to be able to secure the services of Cam Dickie in the area of player development for the 2010-2011 season.
This will be his second season with the club, and will see Dickie continue on in the role of identifying talent and recruiting players for the organization.
Dickie, who has a successful mentoring and strength and conditioning business for high level players, will be working in the areas of recruiting as well as developing prospects and rostered players.
"Cam has brought many players a long way by working on both the physical and mental sides of the game," said Natives coach Bryant Perrier. "I have personally witnessed him work with dozens of athletes who started a long way from their goals, but when they buy in, they almost always surpass their goals and reach great heights."
Dickie, who has has close relationships with teams at every level, has worked with several players who have played in the NHL, AHL, WHL, NCAA and junior A hockey and has developed players for every league in North America.
"I don't usually commit to one program as I like to keep relationships with several teams," Dickie said. "But, I believe a lot in what Bryant is doing and I felt that alligning myself with him was an important step to show support for a man I respect regardless of how it impacts my ability to work with many teams. Fortunately, many of the teams I have relationships with are excited for my decision to help Bryant and Neepawa and it should bring even deeper levels of connections for the organization."
Dickie will visit Neepawa on a regular basis and help coach Perrier in areas such as training camp, and other milestone roster deadlines.
He is excited about the opportunity to help the Natives in any way he can and is excited about the staff.
"It is a great coaching group and the scouts are really good people. As this program continues to do the right things, things will get better and better."
Dickie attended St. Francis Xavier University after attending high school at Notre Dame where he played football and hockey. After high school he played junior and senior hockey as well as college football and wrestling.
Recently, he has trained hockey players from three countries, five provinces and several states. He has also mentored NHL draft picks and worked with two Hobey Baker award finalists (one winner), CIS football players and CFL players. He has also provided consultation for teams in the BCHL, KIJHL, CHL, CIS, WHL, and NCAA. He was a junior A general manager at 27 years of age and has over 13 years being a part of building teams at the junior A level.
