A little dramatic title perhaps, but nonetheless not the way the Neepawa Natives pictured the last 5 games going. Yes, they capped off the weekend with a 4-2 loss to the Dauphin Kings who are trying to find themselves this year, but is it time to smash the panic button?
I don’t think so. We could run through all the cliché stories of injured players, Richards was out for couple weeks as well as others, or the flu hitting the dressing room, at least half a dozen were affected in one way shape or form this past weekend, but I don’t think that there are any Natives fans, players, or staff that need or want to here that stuff. What everyone really needs to know is that the staff knows what’s happening and are working on regaining the focus of the players. The greatest sports teams in history have had to comb through some tough streaks and come out the other side of it stronger and more focused than ever before, as will we.
The coach can’t be on the ice taking shots at the opposition’s goalie however, so it has to be up to the players to decide what they want. Time to reach down deep inside and remember what it was like to win again and put that effort on the ice.
4 games left before the break, 2 at the showcase in Winnipeg on the 12th and 13th, and then we finish up at home on the 15th and 17th of December and then we pause for a break. Not before then, not for any reason. Time to turn the tides, raise the sticks in the air and win again.
Fans, like Bon Jovi said in the 90’s……. Keep the Faith!
