Challenging Days Ahead

11 games left in the regular season and the boys of the Neepawa Junior A’ hockey team don’t have the easiest task in front of them.  Of there 11 games 9 of them are against the top 5 teams in the league this year.  With Portage, Steinbach and OCN this week before another crack at the team they are chasing for a playoff spot, Swan Valley,  the Natives are going to have to find the consistency that was there at the beginning of the year and with the playoff run of last year.  When rolling on all cylinders there isn’t a team in the league that shouldn’t worry about matching up against the club.  There have been flashes of pure brilliance when scoring comes from all forward lines and the defense can worry about playing the position of their namesake.  Goal tending is strong, stronger when the focus in front of them is on protecting the crease.

The bright side of this tale, 8 of the games that we have left are home games and with fans in the stands the team has proven over and over again that they can pick up their game and I am sure that they will again in February.  The fans role in this is to go to the Yellowhead and cheer them on and help push them over the top.  They are only 2pts out of the 8th spot with lots of points on the table.

Playoffs start now.
